Spring is in full swing, and we know many of our patients are enjoying the lengthening days, the growing sunshine, and all the fun that springtime outdoor activities can bring. To help put a smile on your face this spring, we’ve pulled together a couple braces – friendly recipes that are perfect for savoring on a sunny spring day.
Easy Spring Rolls
For this recipe, spring is in the name! Spring rolls are a delicious, healthy treat to enjoy, and because you can choose your own fillings, they’re perfect for eating with braces.
Ingredients
- Pack of spring roll wrappers
- Glass noodles
- Shredded veggies like carrots, zucchini, or even mushrooms
- Lean meat, tofu, or cooked shrimp
Directions
This one is easy. First, soak a spring roll wrapper in a shallow dish of hot water until softened, let the excess water drip off, then lay it out flat on a clean, dry cutting board. Put your ingredients in the bottom third of the wrapper with a 1 inch border on either side, fold the wrapper over the filling, then start rolling it into a tight cylinder. Stop about halfway through to fold the ends in, then finish rolling and cut it in half. Repeat for the other wrappers and enjoy!
3 Ingredient Banana Ice Cream
Now that the days are getting warmer, it’s the perfect time to enjoy ice cream – and this recipe cuts down on sugar without sacrificing flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 overripe bananas, cut into chunks and fully frozen
- 1 tsp peanut butter
- 1/2 teaspoon milk
Directions
This one is devilishly easy. Throw the bananas, peanut butter, and milk into a food processor, pulse until smooth and creamy, and dig in! Simple, easy, and oh-so-delicious – and it won’t cause any problems for braces.
Easy Spring Fruit Salad
Everybody loves a good fruit salad: easy, delicious, and great for braces. Here’s a simple recipe to enjoy this classic spring dish.
Ingredients
- 7 oz plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 cups strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup raspberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 banana, sliced
Directions
This couldn’t be easier. Toss the yogurt, honey, and vanilla into a mixing bowl and mix together until well combined. Add in the rest of the ingredients, toss to mix, and dig in!
